Geste d'Amour (A Gesture of Love)

A mother holding her child in her arms performs an act of profound love. Through small and great gestures of care each day, she nurtures this fragile being, offering a secure foundation that allows the child to grow with a sense of trust and safety. This work is rooted in that suspended moment when time seems to stand still, as the mother’s body gently curves around her child, creating a space of tender protection. This intimate gesture brings to light a silent love, an inseparable and powerful bond that stands in contrast to the fragility of human existence. The mother’s face merges with that of her child, as if affirming a continuity between her child’s life and her own. This gesture is not only maternal; it is universal. It speaks to the fundamental need to be held, listened to, reassured, and loved unconditionally. Through this work, I wish to celebrate the small, everyday gestures of tenderness offered by women. A gentle yet powerful force — that of a woman turning toward her children, a friend, an elderly person — it does not matter. We all have an immense need for love. In this sense, woman carries within her this profound value and this essential need for humanity: a love that does not seek to impose itself, but rather supports, embraces, and builds. The work invites the viewer to slow down, to feel the power of everyday gestures of affection and tenderness, and to remember what it means to be held in the arms of someone who loves us.
