In our modern world, we constantly fight to demonstrate our power and confidence which most often turns out to be superficial. I wanted to reveal this woman’s vulnerability and ability to feel someone else's pain. Her eyes remind us of the Fayum portraits - the first portraits of certain individuals and not generalized images of some fictional person. This is what makes the viewer look into the eyes of the depicted person for a long time.
