Statement
My artistic practice has developed across many disciplines, from stage and exhibition design to sculpture, animation and visual art. This diverse background has shaped the way I approach space, material, movement and form. Working with materials including stone, wood and bronze, I am interested in the relationship between an idea and its physical expression. My experience in theatre, film and animation has also influenced my understanding of composition, transformation and the way a work communicates with its surroundings. Rather than limiting my practice to a single medium, I explore different forms of visual expression and allow the material, space and character of each project to guide the work. My practice brings together the spatial thinking of stage design, the physicality of sculpture and the sense of movement and narrative developed through animation. At the centre of my work is an ongoing exploration of how form, material and visual language can create an experience that extends beyond the object itself.
