Artist Statement Fran loves the great outdoors, animals and nature. She grew up on the Scotland’s west coast and her family made subsequent moves to rural Cheshire, Wales and Yorkshire. Fran looks for subjects that allow for expression in mark-making and she paints loosely and fast. Her work combines strong, precise drawing skills with a flair for colour and bold brushwork. Biography Fran is a fine artist working in a variety of media including charcoal, watercolours, inks and acrylics. After completing an Art History Degree, Fran graduated in Paper Conservation at Camberwell School of Art and began her career as the Egyptian Papyrus Conservation Officer at the British Museum. Over time, she pursued her creative studies privately, alongside a career in Communications. Fran completed art foundation training at Leeds College of Art in 2010-11. She has since enjoyed success, selling her works by exhibiting with local galleries and in pop up exhibitions. Fran has become known for her painterly figurative works of animals, florals and landscapes. Drawing on her original works, she sells giclee fine art prints and designs repeat surface patterns for the fashion industry. CV Fran began painting in earnest in 2010. Soon after, she began exhibiting and forging relationships with galleries. In 2020, Fran gained ongoing representation with the Tamara Lawson Gallery in Ilkley, and spent weekends producing new works to keep abreast of the growing demand for her paintings. Fran participates routinely in local arts and crafts events and shows. She has a permanent artist studio at Keighley Creative, an artist’s collective and arts community centre. Fran is currently Artist in Residence with the internationally- acclaimed retreat, The Broughton Sanctuary, where she is working to visually document their ambitious rewilding scheme.
