Myrthe Smith, Open-minded Artist, and Dyslect. Born in 1972 in Haarlem, the Netherlands. In 1996, I started the company "Het Geheim van de Smith," specializing in decorative painting and restoration techniques. From 2000 to 2010, I worked with my former partner under the name SASMYR. After 10 years of successful business operations, I decided to continue on my own again. From 2013 onwards, I started selling my first paintings. Shortly thereafter, I took the step towards 3-dimensional work. In 2019, I finally enrolled in the Spatial Design program at the art academy (as a self-taught artist). I successfully obtained my diploma, and at the end of 2021, I created my first bronze portrait: The Oracle Neffie. For variety, I also worked on international projects, for example in theme parks. Combining restoration craftsmanship with the tricks of the decorative trade creates new fantasy worlds. Practicing these three professions is becoming a bit too much for me, which is why I now want to focus fully on my artistry. My extensive experience with old techniques and my insatiable thirst for knowledge combine well with new, sustainable working methods. My style is eclectic; characteristic elements are contrast, and my work often conveys a double message. I push the boundaries, but always with a wink. My eternal curiosity makes me a specialist and an “Open-minded Artist”.
