THE FIGHTING DRAGONS OF ARA

When I created this photograph of NGC 6188, I wanted to capture more than a nebula, I wanted to freeze a moment of cosmic drama unfolding 4,000 light‑years away.

“When I created this photograph of NGC 6188, I wanted to capture more than a nebula, I wanted to freeze a moment of cosmic drama unfolding 4,000 light‑years away.”

When I created this photograph of NGC 6188, I wanted to capture more than a nebula, I wanted to freeze a moment of cosmic drama unfolding 4,000 light‑years away. Known as the Fighting Dragons of Ara, its sculpted pillars and glowing ridges tell a story of creation, destruction, and rebirth. For me, this image reflects the beauty that rises from turbulence. Even though this object never appears above the Belgian horizon, photographing it remotely allowed me to connect with a part of the sky I can’t see myself. This work is an invitation to pause and look deeper to feel the quiet power of stars being born and light pushing through darkness.
