THE RUNNING CHICKEN NEBULA

When I photographed IC 2944, I wanted to capture the delicate balance between chaos and creation inside this vast star‑forming region. Known for its dark Thackeray’s Globules set against glowing hydrogen clouds, the Running Chicken Nebula immediately drew me in with its contrast of fragility and power. Massive young stars carve the gas into shifting shapes, and I tried to preserve that sense of motion and energy while processing the image. Even though this object lies far beyond the Belgian sky, photographing it remotely allowed me to connect with a place I can’t see myself. This photograph is an invitation to pause and look deeper to witness the quiet drama of stars forming in the darkness.
