The story

Materials, making and the idea behind Unredacted 76.2 X 76.2 cm Oil over mixed media.

Unredacted rnrnrnrnSome believe the river hurries because she longs for the sea. Every path, every bend, every mile she travels is flattened to one purpose— to be one with his tide. But look beyond the folklore, let her layered depth reveal itself. Uninhibited, her song can echo for miles— or fall to a whisper so soft you must lean close to see it flicker in your eyes— playful Urvashi, inviting the world to dance. At ease, in court and wilderness alike, claimed by many belonging to none— sovereign Draupadi, hostage to no throne. Unstoppable, she flows yet tempers her current where fragile roots reach for water along her banks— nurturing Parvati, cradling the living earth. Fearless, she leaps from cliffs, carving valleys through mountains— ferocious Durga, remaking the world. Perhaps that is why her surrender becomes the story, her journey forgotten. Stories get redacted when her agency transcends him. Ask Sita. rnAarti Ghanekar
