Chris Kister is a photographic artist based in Frankfurt am Main. After studying photography at the Johannes-Gutenberg-Schule in Stuttgart, he began working as a freelance photographer and artist in 1989. His practice explores abstraction and artistic portraiture, combining photography with digital manipulation, collage, photomontage, and layered imagery. Working exclusively with his own photographs, Kister transforms familiar visual realities into enigmatic compositions that exist between photography, painting, and graphic art. His work has been exhibited internationally and at institutions and events including the German Architecture Museum in Frankfurt, Museum of Applied Arts Hamburg, Art.Fair Cologne, and Luminale. He is a member of Freelens and continues to exhibit and collaborate with cultural institutions and companies.
